Leisure Lodge Motel

I’ve stayed in hotels far more expensive that are far less clean. This place is spotless. Cleanliness is clearly a priority. Pretty comfortable stay. A little bit of noise from the trains going by but a great place to get a little rest and a nice hot shower on a long road trip.

I was doubting course there only good and fresh reviews, but we stayed there a night. It was really clean and nice, for an apfordablest price around. Room looks very simple at photos, needs more “movie” or “road 66” decor, just to make them seem nicer, and no doubt to stay.

Hospitality, thy name is Leisure Lodge. I can not say enough good things about this motel. The room was cozy and clean, and the owner was extremely kind and helpful. He offered us water as soon as we got in. He printed an itinerary of all the local spots he recommended for sightseeing, and wrote down which exit we'd need to use to get to each one from the highwau, and whether they were close or more out of the way. And he invited us to Thanksgiving dinner if we happened to pass back through on our way home from our travels. He offered us waters again a when we checked out and came outside to say goodbye. Above and beyond anything I've experienced at a simple roadside motel. And we also had lovely views of the countryside from our window. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you, David, for your kindness and hospitality.

It's an older Bldg, but they've recently refreshed the rooms. You can see cracks in the walls where the foundation has settled. Everything in the room worked and the bed was comfortable. The front desk personnel are friendly and helpful. It was very affordable.

The only hotel I've stayed at in the last several years where the value exceeds the price. Don't let the outside facade fool you. The rooms are simple, but they are clean and professional. The TVs can connect to your phone via the Roku, so you can actually watch what you want, without ads if thats your subscription. Showers are hot and the beds are comfortable. The owner, David, treats guests like family. P.S. +5 more stars if you're a thru-hiker. Ask politely and be a good guest, and David will shuttle you around if he's not too busy.

Is this a five-star experience? No, not hardly but it met expectations completely. The room felt clean and even though this is an old school motel that does feel old and touts being newly renovated, it's a motel with motel quality facilities. Probably of note is that you will hear trains. Not super loud but they are near and noticeable. The staff who I assume is also the owner was super nice and provided a lot of unsolicited information. Some had to do with things to see nearby. We capitalized on that information and saw the sandstone bluffs and the natural arch. All within 30 miles south of the motel. He also recommended a place to eat but we had already eaten. Overall if you are looking to save on a place to stay, this is your place.

Cute Little motel on historic Route 66. The rooms are clean and from the moment we checked in we were so welcomed. David at the decked checked us in at 7PMish. He was so kind and shared about how much there was to do in Grants NM. We actually ended up modifying our plans of Visiting Chaco Canyon because David spoke so highly of the National monuments that were local and had good hiking. The hot water was fast very quickly and the room's heater cranks! We had to turn tbe heater down after an hour because we got so toasty. There was plenty of parking. We'll definitely be back and stay at the Leisure Lodge to explore more of El Malpais!

Our stay at Leisure Lodge was wonderful. We arrived Christmas night hungry and all the restaurants were closed. The staff fed us great food left from a barbecue they hosted that day: it was so generous and meaningful! The room was clean and quiet, plentiful heat and hot water and they even waived the pet fee for our dog as a Christmas special. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
